Kravings Burger

A couple of weeks ago my husband brought some store bought burgers. They took a few minutes to flame up and almost burned down my deck. I swore then to always make the effort and just make the burgers myself and the Kravings burger was born. It's so worth it when you know exactly what you're putting in your mouth.

2 lbs ground medium of regular beef
1 tsp each cumin and chilli powder
1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
2 tsps freshly found black pepper
10 crushed garlic cloves
4 tbsps finely chopped mushrooms
2 tsps chopped fresh red pepper skin
1 slice of brown bread soaked
in half a cup of milk
1 egg, 1/4 cup chopped coriander
1 med red onion sliced

Heat some oil and fry the onions adding a pinch of salt at the end so it's nice and brown. In a separate bowl, add all the ingredients. Chop the onions and add to the bowl and gently mix. Be careful not to overwork the meat and ensure that it's cool. Resist the temptation to salt the meat as it drains all of the moisture out of the burgers. You can either make these patties by hand or use a burger press like I have in the video. Chill the burgers and then cook on a hot grill. I usually brush the grill with oil and i also brish each burger with oil before I sprinkle with coarse salt. Cook the burger for 3 - 4 mins on each side.
